Rachael Dalzell studied fine art painting and drawing at the Wimbledon School of Art in London. She then further developed her drawing technique at the Universidad Complutense in Madrid.
Her work is inspired by regions renowned for the starkness of their landscape. These include windswept and majestic coastlines in the United Kingdom and Ireland, mountain scenery from the Himalayas of Ladakh, and volcanoes and glaciers in Iceland. Her large canvases capture the grandeur of the natural world, places where one can feel overwhelmed by nature’s splendour.
She works with oil on large canvases, and charcoal and ink on paper. Across all her mediums she maintains a freedom of application that captures the beauty of light on scenery with the utmost delicacy. The results are as much about mood as they are of place.
Through the presence of her works at numerous international art fairs, she has begun to acquire a reputation over the last few years as someone to be closely watched in the future.
